U.S. Ambassador to Israel says the Iran nuclear deal will not be used in order to get Israel to agree to peace talks with Palestine

According to the Jerusalem Post, Dan Shapiro, U.S. ambassador to Israel, denies that the Iran nuclear deal is being used in order to get Israel to agree to peace talks with Palestine.

The Jerusalem Post quoted Shapiro as saying, “There is no connection between these two issues.  Both of these issues are connected to the security of Israel and also to our security and the entire Middle East.  We do not see in some kind of relation between them to which we request to give to one and receive from another.”

On November 23, 2013, the P5 + 1 (United States, United Kingdom, France,  Germany,  and Russia) group reached a nuclear agreement with Iran.  The agreement resulted in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatening to ignore international rules and to strike Iran if Israel believes it is threatened.

During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Candy Crowley asked Benjamin Netanyahu if there was anything that would result in him talking to Palestine and or Iran.

Netanyahu responded that he will be willing to talk to Palestine and or Iran if the countries recognize Israel’s existence.
